New Delhi, Mar 11 (ILNS) A Delhi Court will on Friday, hear the fresh anticipatory bail application filed by Shubham Kar Chaudhari in a case registered against him by the Delhi Police Special Cell, in connection with the Farmers Protest Toolkit.
Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana is slated to hear the application filed through Advocate Soutik Banerjee on March 12.
Earlier on March 3, the Bombay High Court had granted transit bail to Chaudhari with the liberty to approach a court in Delhi by March 12.
In his application before the Bombay High Court, Chaudhari had claimed that he had volunteered for ‘Extinction Rebellion’ organisation and is presently its South Asia Liaison Head. Shantanu Muluk and Nitika Jacob also have links with the said organisation.
It was contended by Chaudhari that he was ‘falsely implicated’ in the case and has no connection with the said toolkit.
Justice Rana is the same Judge, who had granted bail to 22-year-old and Climate Activist Disha Ravi, in connection with the Farmers Protest Toolkit.
While granting bail to Ravi, ASJ Rana said, “Considering the scanty and sketchy evidence, there were no palpable reason to breach the rule of bail for a 22-year-old girl, who has absolutely blemish-free criminal antecedents and having firm roots in the society”.
ASJ Rana is also hearing the anticipatory bail applications filed by co-accused Nikita Jacob and Shantanu Muluk and has also granted interim protection to the two till March 15.
As per Delhi Police, the ‘toolkit’ shared by Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg played a major role in turning the ’26 January 2021 tractor parade’ violent, leaving a few hundred police personnel injured.
Police said the toolkit was not created just by a handful of activists in India, but in collaboration with pro-Khalistani organisations.
The Special Cell of Delhi Police lodged an FIR against creating and spreading the toolkit and said that a probe is on to unravel an ‘international conspiracy’ to defame India. ILNS/ANB/SNG/JR
