New Delhi, Jun 25 (ILNS) A Delhi Court today extended judicial custody of two-time Olympic medalist Wrestler Sushil Kumar till July 9, in connection with the murder case of fellow Wrestler Sagar Dhankar.
The Gold medalist in Commonwealth Games was shifted from Mandoli jail to Tihar.
Sushil was produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Mayank Aggarwal at the end of the 14-day judicial custody. He is facing charges of murder, culpable homicide and kidnapping.
Earlier, a Delhi Court had dismissed a plea by Kumar for special food in prison, including health supplements containing protein, Omega-3 capsules, jointment capsules, Pre-workout C4, Hyde, Multivitamin GNC and exercise bands, as he wanted to continue his career in wrestling.
Kumar, along with his associates, allegedly assaulted Sagar Dhankar and two of his friends at Chatrasal stadium on the intervening night of May 4 and 5 over an alleged property dispute. Dhankar (23), succumbed to the injuries later.
Sushil was arrested on May 23, along with co-accused Ajay Kumar Sehrawat. On May 29, 2021, Duty Metropolitan Magistrate Mayank Goyal had remanded the Wrestler and his associate Ajay Kumar to four days police custody.
A total of 10 people, including Sushil, have been arrested so far in connection with the incident.
Earlier, on behalf of Sushil Kumar, the jail administration was told that his life was under threat from the Lawrence Bishnoi-Kala Jathedi gang. ILNS/SHV/RJ
