Supreme Court Collegium approves one judicial officer and one advocate as judge in the Rajasthan High Court and Calcutta High Court respectively

New Delhi, Oct 8 (ILNS) The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on October 8, 2021, has approved the proposal for the appointment of one judicial officer and one advocate as a judge in the Rajasthan High Court and the Calcutta High Court respectively. The Collegium has also reiterated its earlier recommendations for the elevation of Shri Sakya Sen, Advocate as Judge in the Calcutta High Court.

In its notification issued today, the Collegium stated that it has approved the proposal for the elevation of Mrs Shubha Mehta, Judicial Officer, as Judge in the Rajasthan High Court. And also approved the proposal for the elevation of Shri Soubhik Mitter, Advocate as Judge in the Calcutta High Court.

Whereas on October 7, 2021, Supreme Court Collegium has approved the proposal for the appointment of 10-Additional Judges as Permanent Judges in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The name of the additional judges is-

1. Mr Justice Suvir Sehgal,

2. Mrs. Justice Alka Sarin,

3. Mr Justice Jasgurpreet Singh Puri,

4. Mr Justice Ashok Kumar Verma,

5. Mr Justice Sant Parkash,

6. Smt. Justice Meenakshi I. Mehta,

7. Mr Justice Karamjit Singh,

8. Mr Justice Vivek Puri,

9. Mrs. Justice Archana Puri, and

10. Mr Justice Rajesh Bhardwaj.

Also on October 6, 2021, the Supreme Court Collegium has approved the proposal for the appointment of 10-Advocate as Judges of the Four High Court across the Country. 

For the Madras High Court, the Collegium has recommended the name of Advocate J. Sathya Narayana Prasad, as a Judge. Whereas for the Rajasthan High Court the Collegium has approved the name of 4-Advocate for a judge-

1. Mr Kuldeep Mathur,

2. Mr Maneesh Sharma,

3. Ms Rekha Borana, and

4. Mr Sameer Jain.

Similarly, for the Allahabad High Court, the name of Advocate Manu Khare has been approved for a Judge and for the Karnataka High Court, the Collegium has approved the proposal for elevation of the following Advocates as Judges-          

1. Mr Anant Ramanath Hegde,

2. Mr Cheppudira Monnappa Poonacha,

3. Mr Siddaiah Rachaiah, and

4. Mr Kannankuzhyil Sreedharan Hemalekha.
