SC to hear Baba Ramdev’s plea on FIRs registered against him by IMA

-

New Delhi, Jun 30 (ILNS) The Supreme Court will soon start hearing on a petition filed by Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, seeking stay on proceedings in various FIRs registered against him in different states over his remarks against Allopathic Doctors over the treatment of COVID-19.

A Bench led by Chief Justice NV Ramana will take up the plea, filed on June 23 by the Yoga Guru, seeking stay on proceedings and transfer of the FIRs lodged by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in Patna and Raipur branches, to Delhi.

The Raipur Police had registered an FIR against Ramkrishna Yadav alias Baba Ramdev on the basis of a complaint filed by the Chhattisgarh unit of IMA, for allegedly spreading ‘false’ information about the medicines being used by the medical fraternity for the treatment of Novel Coronavirus.

Ramdev was booked under relevant Sections of IPC and the Disaster Management Act, 2005, after he questioned the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines and allopathic medicines in treatment of the fatal infection, during a news channel debate. ILNS/KR/RJ
