New Delhi, Jun 11 (ILNS): The appeal of former Mumbai Commissioner of Police Param Bir Singh, to have the criminal cases against him, initiated by Mumbai Police, to be transferred to the CBI or any other independent agency, was today quashed by the Supreme Court.
The Bench of Justices Hemant Gupta and V Ramasubramanian expressed surprise that the former top cop of the city says he has lost faith in Mumbai Police, a force he was part of, for 30 years. The Bench commented, “people in glass houses should not throw stones.”
The Bench was heard commenting, during hearings: “You were part of Maharashtra cadre for 30 years and served it. Now you are saying you do not have faith in that system. It is shocking.”
Reacting to the plea, the top court said that Singh should approach the Bombay High Court for relief and that there was no way the apex court can pass any transfer order, especially on all FIR’s registered, as submitted in Singh’s plea. ILNS\SJ\RJ
