New Delhi, Sept 7 (ILNS) The Supreme Court Today refused to grant an early hearing on a plea seeking reopening of the Baba Baidyanath Dham Jyotirlinga temple and Baba Basukinath in Jharkhand.
A Bench headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana said said that since the whole world is suffering from COVID-19, there was no urgency to hear this plea.
Panda Dharma Rakshini Sabha, a group of priests of Baba Baidyanath Jyotirlinga temple, had filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding the opening of the temple.
The petition sought permission to the pandas/priests of Baba Baidyanath Jyotirlinga temple to perform the traditional Shravan puja during the month of Shravan along with the Ganges water collected from Sultanganj, Bihar with necessary guidelines.
The petitioner had also sought permission for the limited vaccinated panda to undertake the symbolic Kavand Yatra following the protocol of Corona
The Chief Justice of India asked the Petitioner that what is the need for an early hearing in this matter? The Petitioner replied that there are less cases of corona there.
“Why should we give priority to this? The whole world is suffering?” CJI Ramana asked.
Advocate Prashant Kumar, appearing for the petitioner, said that COVID numbers are low in Jharkhand.
“Yes, yes, there is no COVID you know,” the CJI responded while disallowing the mentioning for urgent listing./ILNS/SS/SNG
