New Delhi, Mar 19 (ILNS) The Supreme Court today refused to entertain the plea seeking investigation of the murder of a Telangana lawyer couple this year, by an Independent Investigation Agency.
The three judge Bench of Chief Justice SA Bobde and Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian passed this order, while hearing a PIL filed by the Anti-Corruption Council of India Trust.
The petitioner sought an inquiry with an Independent Investigation Agency into the murder of Vaman Rao and his wife.
The bench asked the petitioner to withdraw the plea and approach the High Court with the same prayer.
During the hearing, the CJI commented that the matter was within the purview of the Telangana Judiciary.
Counsel for the petitioner stated that there are three matters pending before the Telangana High Court, including the matter filed by the father of the deceased and taken up on the Chief Justice’s cognisance.
The petitioner sought a direction for the protection of lawyers across the country.
The bench directed the petitioner that he can approach the Supreme Court, after the orders of the Telangana High Court.
The Anti-Corruption Council of India Trust withdrew the plea on the recommendations of the Supreme Court. ILNS/SNG/RJ
