SC gives interim protection from arrest to teacher accused of outraging modesty of wife

New Delhi, Jun 25 (ILNS) The Supreme Court today granted interim protection from arrest to a teacher accused of outraging the modesty of his wife, voluntarily causing hurt and for criminal breach of trust.

The Bench comprising Justice Hemant Gupta and Justice Aniruddha Bose directed that no coercive action shall be taken against petitioner Madan Lal and also issued a notice to the state of Rajasthan on the matter.

Advocate Abhishek Gupta, appearing for Lal, submitted that he is a government teacher and is at the stage of retirement, so the custody of the petitioner is unwarranted, as submitted by the Counsel before the Jaipur Bench of Rajasthan High Court.

The Public Prosecutor, as well as the wife of Madan Lal, opposed the bail application before the Rajasthan High Court, submitting that there is also an averment of outraging the modesty committed against the wife of Madan Lal. ILNS/KY/RJ
