SC Collegium approves elevation of Judicial Officers as Judges of MP HC, Gauhati HC

New Delhi, May 19 (ILNS) The Supreme Court Collegium has approved the proposal for elevation of Judicial Officers as Judges of the Madhya Pradesh High Court and the Gauhati High Court.

In its notification issued on the SC website, it said, “The Supreme Court Collegium on 4th May, 2021 has approved the proposal for elevation of the following Judicial Officers as Judges of the Madhya Pradesh High Court:

  1. Anil Verma,
  2. Arun Kumar Sharma,
  3. Satyendra Kumar Singh,
  4. Sunita Yadav,
  5. Deepak Kumar Agarwal, and
  6. Rajendra Kumar (Verma)

Whereas in a separate notification, the Supreme Court Collegium has approved the proposal for elevation of Robin Phukan, Judicial Officer, as Judge of the Gauhati High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium consists of five seniormost Judges, headed by the Chief Justice of India (CJI). Presently, the Members of Collegium include CJI NV Ramana, Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman, Justice Uday Umesh Lalit, Justice Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar and Justice Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud.
