SC Collegium approves appointment of Permanent Judges in High Courts of Bombay, Chhattisgarh and Kerala


New Delhi, Apr 6 (ILNS) The Supreme Court Collegium approved the appointment of Permanent Judges in the Bombay, Chattisgarh and Kerala High Court.

For the Bombay High Court, the apex court approved the appointment of 10 Additional Judges as Permanent. These include Justice Nitin Bhagawantrao Suryawanshi, Justice Anil Satyavijay Kilor, Justice Milind Narendra Jadhav, Justice MG Sewlikar, Justice VG Bisht, Justice Debadwar Bhalchandra Ugrasen, Justice MS Jawalkar, Justice SP Tavade, and Justice NR Borkar.

Justice Gharote, Justice Suryawanshi, Justice Kilor and Justice Jadhav were appointed as Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court on August 23, 2019 and the remaining were appointed on December 5, 2019.

The Collegium also recommended to appoint Justice Vimla Singh Kapoor, Additional Judge of Chhattisgarh High Court, as Permanent Judge of that High Court. She was elevated as Additional Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court on June 18, 2018.

Moreover, the apex court Collegium approved the appointment of five Additional Judges of Kerala High Court as Permanent Judges. These include Justice Conrad S Dias, Justice PV Kunhikrishnan, Justice TR Ravi, Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas and Justice Gopinath P.

Justice Dias was sworn in as Additional Judge of the Kerala High Court on November 18, 2019. Justice Kunhikrishnan was sworn in as an Additional Judge of the Kerala High Court on February 13, 2020, whereas Justice Ravi, Justice Thomas and Justice Gopinath were sworn in as Additional Judges of the Kerala High Court on March 6, 2020.
