Recruitments to UP secretariat: Allahabad HC accepts allegations of bungling in exam

-

New Delhi, June 16 (ILNS): The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Tuesday directed the state government to file its short counter affidavit within ten days while hearing a petition seeking cancellation of various recruitments made on December 7, 2020 in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Secretariat. The court has fixed the next hearing for June 28.

Justice Chandra Dhari Singh passed this order while hearing a petition filed by Ankur Saroha (and another). The bench observed: “…After hearing the contentions, the court is of the opinion that the matter requires consideration.”

Ishan Baghel Singh, advocate appearing for the petitioners, has submitted that bungling on a large scale has been done in the recruitment process. He has referred to the OMR sheets of the petitioners and submitted that as per answer key, the petitioners have scored around 190 marks in the main written examination.

Singh has further referred to the OMR sheets of the other candidates and submitted that the candidates who have attempted 7 questions out of 100 in preliminary examination and 10 questions out of 200 in main written examination have been declared successful.

Singh has submitted that from perusal of the OMR sheets it is evident that the bungling on a large scale has been done in the selection process. Therefore, the advertisement of December 7, 2020 may be quashed.Abhinav Trivedi, counsel for respondents, vehemently opposed the submissions made by Ishan Baghel Singh and submitted that the OMR sheets of the petitioners on which the petitioner’s counsel is relying are manipulated. He has prayed for 10 days’ time to file short counter affidavit. ILNS\AP\SS
