New Delhi, Apr 10 (ILNS) President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Senior Justice Sanjay Yadav as the Acting Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court.
Justice Yadav will take charge from April 14, after the retirement of Chief Justice Govind Mathur. Chief Justice Mathur’s term is till April 13. The Acting Chief Justice has been appointed, even before the Chief Justice retires. The notification was issued yesterday by Additional Secretary to the Government of India, Rajinder Kashyap.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Justice Sanjay Yadav, senior-most Judge of the Allahabad High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from April 14, 2021 consequent upon the retirement of Justice Govind Mathur, Chief Justice, Allahabad High Court,” read the notification issued by the Law Ministry.
Justice Yadav enrolled at the Bar in 1986 and was elevated as a Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in 2007.
He served as the Acting Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court from October 6, 2019 till November 2, 2019 and from September 30, 2020 till January 2, 2021. In January, 2021 he was transferred to the Allahabad High Court. ILNS/SNG/RJ
