Narada arrest case: Judges differ, Calcutta HC refers matter to larger bench

-

New Delhi, May 21 (ILNS): The Narada scam arrest matter will now be heard by a larger Bench. This was announced by the Calcutta High Court this morning. The Bench of Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Arijit Banerjee made this announcement.
Justice Banerjee told Senior Advocate Dr Abhisekh Manu Singhvi, arguing for the accused, that: “One of the judges on the bench thought it fit to grant interim bail while other did not. So we referred to a larger bench.”
The court also ordered that the TMC leaders be kept under house arrest instead of jail, in tune with the recent judgment of the Supreme Court in the Gautam Navlakha case.
The court is hearing the case of four TMC leaders arrested by the CBI and also given bail by the special Judge of the CBI, to which the high court has imposed a stay. Of the four arrested, two are Ministers. ILNS\SJ\RJ
