-

New Delhi, Apr 16 (ILNS) The woman, who levelled allegations of rape on a Mumbai-based TV Journalist, today moved the Delhi High Court, seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter.

The Single-Judge Bench of Justice Mukta Gupta will hear the petition moved by the complainant, along with the main matter on April 19, sources told India Legal, as the matter was being heard in-camera via video-conferencing.

The court also extended the interim protection granted to ET Now Anchor Varun Hiremath till the next date of hearing, sources said further.

In her new plea, the complainant woman sought the court’s direction to call for status report of the investigation carried out by the Delhi Police and transfer the matter for further probe to the CBI or any other investigation agency.

The woman, while seeking this direction from the High Court, cited eight major discrepancies in the probe conducted by the Delhi Police.

Senior Advocate Nitya Ramakrishnan and Advocate Jai Anant Dehadri appeared for the complainant, while Hiremath was represented by Senior Advocate and Congress leader Kapil Sibal and Advocate Vijay Aggarwal. ILNS/ANB/SNG/RJ
