MP HC disposes of PIL over illegal encroachment


Jabalpur, Jun 28 (ILNS) The Madhya Pradesh High Court has disposed of a PIL raising issue of illegal encroachment/poles/obstructions caused by local residents on a public road.

The Jabalpur Bench of Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq and Justice Anil Verma, while considering the statement of Counsel for the municipal corporation of Jabalpur on June 25, observed that the grievance of the petitioner no longer survives, therefore, the petition is disposed of.

The petition was filed by Rajesh Agrawal alias Bablu with a prayer that the Commissioner of Municipal Corporation, Jabalpur be directed to remove illegal encroachment/poles/ obstructions caused by local residents at public road No 4 and 15 Chandalbhata and Shantinagar, Jabalpur.

Harpreet Singh Ruprah, Counsel for the corporation, submitted that after the petition filed by the petitioner, the municipal corporation, Jabalpur have already taken action to remove the poles put in the middle of the road.

Considering the complaint of the local residents that plying of heavy transport vehicles on the said road causes enormous inconvenience to them, municipal corporation, Jabalpur have installed height gauges on both the streets, Mr Singh added.

The Counsel has also filed the photographs of the streets before and after the removal of poles and also with the height gauges have been placed on record to bring home the point. ILNS\SS\SS\RJ
