Karnataka Court dismisses corruption charges against Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa

-

Bengaluru July 8 (ILNS) A Special Court in Bengaluru today dismissed corruption charges levelled against Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and eight others as the Governor of Karnatka had refused to grant sanction to prosecute the CM under the provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The President of Anti-Graft and Environmental Forum TJ Abraham had filed a complaint before the Special Court to take cognisance of offences under the PC Act against nine persons, including Mr Yediyurappa and some of his family members, and order investigation in relation to the allegation of accepting bribe in relation to a contract given to a private company for a housing project of Bangalore Development Authority.

The Court said in its order that the complaint is not maintainable in the absence of valid sanction, and accordingly dismissed./ILNS/SNG
