IHBAS offers empty beds to convert to Covid care centre

New Delhi, May 12 (ILNS): The Delhi High Court was apprised today that there might be a number of beds available at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS), which can be converted into Covid beds.

Senior Advocate Sanjoy Ghose, through an interim application, mentioned before the Bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli: “The Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS), has a number of beds available at its facility. Milords may consider converting that into a Covid care centre. IHBAS has made a proposal regarding this. This will ensure that 200 more beds are available.”

Justice Sanghi: “Let us see what Mr Mehra has to say on it.”
Senior Advocate and Counsel for the Delhi government, Rahul Mehra said: “Milords, that is being looked into. There are a few blocks and one of them may be taken for the purpose, because the patients who are already there, should not be shifted.”

Mr Ghose: “The IHBAS has come out with their perspective. So, directions may be given.”
Justice Sanghi: “If IHBAS is saying that there are 50 beds, who are you to say that these many beds should not be given and these many beds should?”

Amicus Rajshekhar Rao: “Some suggestions have come for the augmentation of people suffering from mental health. These are very valuable suggestions, we’ll put this before your Lordships tomorrow.” ILNS\KR\SJ\RJ
