Delhi HC to pronounce verdict on Iqbal Tanha’s plea against denial of bail


New Delhi, Jun 15 (ILNS) The Delhi High Court will today pronounce its judgement over the application filed by Delhi riot case accused Asif Iqbal Tanha’s appeal against special court’s denial of bail under Section 43D of UAPA.

A Bench of Justice Siddharth Mriduldh and Justice Jairam Bhambhani will deliver the verdict.

Tanha had been granted interim custody bail from June 13 to 26 on ground of preparation needed to study for his 3 remaining compartment exams to complete his BA (Honours) (Persian) Programme.

The 25-year-old was arrested on May 17 by the crime branch of Delhi Police in the Jamia rioting case. During the anti-CAA (Citizen Amendment Act) protests, violence broke out in New Friends Colony on December 15, 2019.

Asif was arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, apart from other relevant Sections of IPC at Police Station Special Cell, Lodhi Colony. ILNS/KR/RJ
