New Delhi, Sept 27 (ILNS) The Delhi High Court today, reserved its orders on the plea of Businessman Gautam Thapar that his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was illegal and that he was not provided with copies of the ECIR’s in the matter.
Justice Yogesh Khanna after hearing the arguments from both sides reserved its order. The Petition regarding the supply of the ECIRs has been adjourned to October 28, 2021, for arguments.
Vijay Aggarwal, Advocate appearing on behalf of Gautam Thapar, argued that the investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had just started investigating his case, when the ED arrested him. The arrest of Thapar by ED is illegal as Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) has not been given to him, Aggarwal contended.
The ED had arrested businessman Gautam Thapar in the Yes Bank loan fraud case.
The ED was represented by Additional Solicitor General S.V. Raju, while Thapar was represented by Advocate, Vijay Aggarwal and Sandeep Kapur, Senior Partner, Karanjawala & Co. and his team./ILNS/SNG
