New Delhi, Jun 11 (ILNS) A Special NIA Court in Delhi today sought reply from Tihar Jail Authorities in the case of terror accused Rashid Zafar, alleged to be beaten up by inmates and forced to chant ‘Jai Shree Ram’.

Special NIA Judge Praveen Singh sought the response by way of filing a report in the petition filed by terror accused Rashid Zafar lodge in Central Jail Tihar, seeking directions to be passed on the Jail Superintendent related to the matter.

The petition, filed by Advocate MS Khan, alleged that Zafar was “beaten up and forced to chant religious slogans of another religion by his inmates.”

According to the plea, “this incident was disclosed by the applicant/accused to his father on phone from Tihar Jail.”

Zafar, an Undertrial Prisoner, was arrested in 2018 for allegedly being a member of the Islamic State on the allegations that he was involved in planning suicide attacks and serial blasts in Delhi and other areas. ILNS/SHV/RJ
