Mumbai, Oct 28 (ILNS) The Bombay High Court today granted bail to Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan three weeks after he was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a drugs case on October 3 from Mumbai.
Justice Nitin W. Sambre granted bail after hearing former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi who appeared for Aryan Khan and ASG Anil Singh who appeared on behalf of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The ASG reiterated that Aryan Khan was found to be in conscious possession and that he had contacts with drug peddlers. He also alleged if let out on bail Aryan Khan and the other two can tamper with evidence. Earlier, the ASG had made allegations that the NCB found evidence of an international drugs racket with Aryan Khan at its centre and had provided his WhatsApp chats as evidence.
Khan’s team of advocates dismissed it as a generational gap in understanding the language used by the youngsters.
Justice Sambre will pronounce the detailed order tomorrow afternoon along with bail conditions.
Justice Nitin W. Sambre granted bail to co-accused Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha as well. The three are likely to be released either tomorrow or the day after.
The hearing began for the third consecutive day in the Bombay High Court on Thursday. The NDPS special court had denied him bail last week saying that Aryan Khan knew about charas hidden in his friend Arbaaz Merchant’s shoe, which led to the charges under conscious possession. Arbaaz Merchant was also arrested along with Aryan and 18 others.
Meanwhile, NCB’s Mumbai zone director Sameer Wankhede has moved the court to seek protection from arrest as four cases have been filed against him after NCP leader Nawab Malik’s extortion charges. The charges stem from witness Prabhakar Sail’s claim that the NCB was out to extort Rs 25 crore from Shah Rukh Khan. Aryan Khan’s legal team has clarified in the High Court yesterday that they had nothing to do with the NCB claims and counter-claims against them./ILNS/SNG/IL/
