Rhea Chakraborty Bail in drugs case challenged by NCB in Supreme Court


New Delhi, Mar 16 (ILNS) The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has moved the Supreme Court today challenging the Bombay High Court order granting bail to actress Rhea Chakraborty, arrested for charges related to drugs in actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.

A bench of Chief Justice SA Bobde and Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian will hear the plea on March 18.

The Bombay High Court had on October 7, last year granted bail to Rhea Chakraborty, and directed her to deposit a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and a surety of like amount.

It had, however, rejected the bail plea her brother Showik Chakraborty, who is also an accused in the case, and an alleged drug peddler Abdel Basit Parihar.

Rhea, and her brother, the other accused were arrested in September last year by the NCB in connection with its probe into the drugs angle related to the Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case who was found hanging at his apartment in suburban Bandra on June 14 last year.

The NCB has challenged the Bombay High Court’s October7 order of granting bail to Rhea in the Supreme court which will come up for hearing on March 18. ILNS/SNG/JR
