Bollywood Legend Dilip Kumar dies at 98, funeral at 5 p.m.

Mumbai, Jul 7 (ILNS) Legendary Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar passed away at a private hospital today, after prolonged illness.

The 98-year-old got admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Hinduja Hospital on June 29, after complaining of breathlessness. He breathed his last at 0730 hrs, Entrepreneur and Dilip Kumar’s family friend Faisal Farooqui confirmed.

Tweeting from the official handle of the versatile actor, Farooqui said, “With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him we return.

“Burial today at 5:00 PM. Juhu Qabrastan at Santacruz Mumbai,” read another tweet.

Condolences started pouring in from different quarters as the news spread about death of the method actor, who ruled the movie industry in 1950s and 60s. From President Ram Nath Kovind to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar, all condoled the passing away of Mohammed Yusuf Khan, better known as Dilip Kumar, or the ‘Tragedy King’ of Hindi Cinema. Mr Modi also called up the legendary actor’s wife Saira Bano and expressed his condolences.
